Parent as Teacher: As you’re decorating for the holidays, sort ornaments with your child. How many ways of sorting them can you come up with? Children can have their own sense of what defines a group…go with it!

Tuesday – Rodents

Parent as Teacher: Bring something that starts with the letter “G” to share this week or something that is a “rodent”.

Action – Paul Bunyan and the Gophers
Art – Gopher teeth
Sensory – “G” taste test
Music – Jingle Bells

Wednesday – Hickory Dickory Dock

Parent as Teacher: Repeat Hickory Dickory Dock when you’re driving along and at bedtime.

Rhyme – Hickory Dickory Dock with rhythm sticks
Art – Marble Paint a mouse
Game – Rhyming words game

Thursday – Red and White

Parent as Teacher: Have your child wear or bring in something red and/or white from home to share.

Phonics – “G says g,g,g,g,g, gopher…. I dig for I’m no loafer”

Art – Finger paint with red and white
Gross Motor – Practice cutting strips with red and white paper

Parent as Teacher: As you go about your day, count 5 things, touching each one as you count, when possible.
