Thanks to every one of you for the great turnout at our Christmas program last month.  The children were wonderful, as expected.  Thanks also to all who brought goodies.  They were fantastic!  A special thanks goes to our great Santas at both the program and Santa & Cider!

NEW YEAR’S EVE AND NEW YEAR’S DAY

December 28-January 1 Our letter of the week is I-Ibis, in my eye, see my iris?! 

We will also be talking about the winter season. Monday we will be talking about the letter long “I.” Tuesday we are talking about clothing that is appropriate on these cold, wet days. Wednesday is Opposite Day: Wet/Dry. We will be highlighting the nursery rhyme It’s Raining, It’s Pouring on Thursday. We are closing at 4 pm for New Year’s Eve and we are closed New Year’s Day.

January 4-8 Our letter of the week is I-Iguana, I would like a banana.  

This week we will be focusing on short “I”.  Tuesday is Leapin’ Lizards Day, when we will talk about lizards and camouflage. Wednesday we are focusing on the color blue (azul in Spanish), our color of the month. We will be doing activities around the nursery rhyme Little Boy Blue . Thursday we will be focusing on our number for the month, 6/six (seis in Spanish) and learning the rhyme Sing a Song of Sixpence. Friday is Shape Day; our shape for the month is diamond.

 SUNSHINE HOUSE BIRTHDAY WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 13th   

January 11-15 J-Jaybird, I talk until I’m heard.

Monday we will introduce the letter “J”, our letter of the week. Tuesday is Jack & Jill, when we will be learning and acting out this fun rhyme. Wednesday is Sunshine House’s birthday!  It is a parent participation day, where we will have many birthday party activities set up for the children to enjoy.  Sign-ups will be posted for parent helpers. Thursday is Jellybeans Day, when we will count, sort, and read about these tasty treats!  Friday is I Have a Dream Day. We will be talking about our dreams and how we can go about realizing them.

 January 18-22 K-Kangaroo, you will find me at the zoo.

This is going to be a “K” Krazy Week. We are closed Monday for the MLK, Jr. Holiday. Wednesday is Pouches & Pockets. Thursday is a Krazy Luncheon. Sign-ups will be posted.  No lunch boxes this day.  Friday is Krazy Socks & Shoes Day; a day when it’s fun to wear two different socks and shoes. It is also our Family Breakfast, where you are invited to join us for a free homemade breakfast.

January 25-29 L-Lion, I am king, on that rely on!

Monday we will be talking about the letter “L”, our letter this week. Tuesday we will be learning about African Animals. Wednesday is an opposite day for the month: loud/quiet. Thursday we will be learning about leopards.  Friday is all about Lollipops!

In gross motor development, we’ll be learning to walk on a balance beam.
